BP5 Liveperson

Liveperson is a site where you can post your services on the web. It covers a few choice areas including technology, counseling, education, health, arts, business and spiritually. This is a great site to research for my AR topic.

The counseling page covers a few different topics for services. Addiction counseling which is my area of interest, crisis and physical conditions, eating disorders, parenting and religious counseling. All services have fees which are determined by the individual counselor.

The education page offers tutoring in different subjects and fees are determined by the individual teachers. Some of the subjects covered include math, chemistry, life science, earth sciences and computer science.

  1. Tania, I love this idea because it speaks directly to the biggest consumer complaint in the past ten years or so, that they can never just speak to a real-live human! It's bad enough to go round and round with the automated system at a utility company, but if you're really seeking answers to something more subjective and/or personal, then the need for a two-way conversation is all the more crucial. There are times in the midst of research that you realize you're not even certain what questions to ask, so your search stalls out. A conversation with a Liveperson person could really get you past a researcher-block, as it were. I also appreciated that Liveperson offers an email option that costs less, or nothing, and still gives you a chance to have a focused conversation. The counseling aspects of this could really fill a huge void for people who don't have the financial resources or the courage to face a counselor in person. All the way around, a compelling Web 2.0 tool that, ironically enough, is special because it offers a live human!

  2. How does the site assure visitors that the people they contact, especially counseling services, are qualified?
